During the summer break, approximately 20 students and two faculty members from Arizona State University’s School for the Future of Innovation in Society Faculty, who came to Japan to observe innovation at the Osaka Expo, visited Hiroshima on May 16th and interacted with four volunteers from Hiroshima University!
In the morning, they experienced making Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki at the Otafuku Sauce cooking studio “Okosta,” adjacent to Hiroshima Station! Following the instructor’s English guidance, they cooked the okonomiyaki themselves! Afterwards, they enjoyed eating the okonomiyaki they made while interacting with each other.
In the afternoon, they moved to Peace Memorial Park and the World Friendship Center (WFC) for peace education. At the WFC, they had the invaluable opportunity to listen to the stories of atomic bomb survivors.
