【Workshop】25 Students Dispatched to Arizona State University! (The 95th START Program, Fall 2024)

Program Overview
From Monday, February 24, to Thursday, March 6, 2025, twenty-five undergraduate students from Hiroshima University traveled to Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona, to study topics such as innovation and American culture. Additionally, they visited Grand Canyon National Park and Sedona, experiencing the magnificent natural landscapes of the United States. The participants came from a wide range of academic backgrounds, with 10 of Hiroshima University’s 12 faculties represented.

The breakdown by faculty was as follows: School of Integrated Arts and Sciences (2), School of Law (1), School of Economics (1), School of Engineering (9), School of Letters (1), School of Medicine (2), School of Information Sciences (1), School of Education (4), School of Science (3), and School of Applied Biological Science (1).

Program Structure and Content
The program was structured around lectures on innovation (indicated by red frames in the schedule), supplemented by visits to labs and museums (blue frames), and American cultural experiences (green frames). This provided a well-balanced curriculum, allowing students to learn about innovation, science, technology, and the history, society, and culture of the U.S. and Arizona.
